Hi Folks,1
I hope everyone had a great Christmas.
Thanks go out to Bruce and Dee for hosting the Christmas party last week.
Just a few points of interest....
First, on January 24th, the BG will skip running and venture to the theater to watch the movie "Spirit of the Marathon". I think part of the film was shot during the Chicago Marathon a few years ago,so I'm sure some of it will be familiar to those who've ventured to the fall classic. The link to the website is: http://www.active.com/running/articles/s...amp;link=1
Check it out.
Second, Ms Audrey put together some training information for the upcoming Rockford Marathon. If you want a copy of the training schedule, please, let me know and I can forward a copy to you. Some of the links to various websites and training programs that she compiled are:

If you're interested, training starts January 13th.
Third, the Chicago Marathon is October 12th. I received an email that mentioned that registration opens February 1st. If you're interested in the fall classic and you're interested in staying downtown for the event, book your hotel NOW. And watch the marathon website for the closing of the registration. They cap the entrants to 45K (at least last year), and it seems to be closing sooner every year.
If you want to share any ideas for a run, recovery, or race, pass them onto me. We can all us a different venue for running.
Thursday, 12.27.07, meet at Runners Image on East State St @ 6:00 pm. Recovery will be at Carlyle Brewing. I expect to see a lot of runners. We all have extra desserts to shed.
Saturday, 12.29.07, meet at Runners Image for a quick 6-7 mile run up along the downtown bike path. Recovery at the Mary’s Market Edgebrook. Meeting time is 7:00 am. I know we did it last week, but a snow storm is scheduled for Friday, so I'm not sure if the other paths will be cleared before Saturday.
Thursday, 1.3.08, meet at Martin Park on Riverside (north end of the parking lot) @ 6:00pm. Recovery is at Nunzio's on North Second St.
"In my dictionary, the word 'Overtrain' falls just a page away from the word 'Overkill', defined as 'to obliterate with more nuclear force than required.' Consider the connection: If your target is top running performance, then to overtrain means to apply more force than is required to hit the target. In fact, overtraining may literally obliterate your target, or at least leave you without the will to pursue it."
