Hi Folks,
I guess there’s a good side to the global warming issue. We get to enjoy warmer weather longer in northern Illinois . Thanksgiving is next week and da Mudda is keeping the temps around 50 degrees for the next week or so. I don’t know about you, but these temps can stay until next spring. Then, we wouldn’t have to worry about ice, snow, and frigid temps....meaning more training time. But, I’m sure da Mudda is brewing up some harsh weather for us. She can be a tricky sport. So, enjoy the weather while you can and go for a nice long run.
For those who didn’t venture to Lake Mills on Saturday, you missed a great lasagna dinner; very nice temps and weather for a successful run; and Bruce capturing 2nd place in his age group for the BG. (Or was it 12th place out of 8 runners….or was it 3rd place….the timing was a bit off). In any event, there were 5 BG runners at the race and it seems a good time was had by all. (Even with the long stroll through the Wisconsin countryside on the return home.)
The annual Christmas party will be December 20th. So, mark your calendars. Would anyone be interested in hosting the party? Let me know.
If you want to share any ideas for a run, recovery, or race, pass them onto me. We can all us a different venue for running.
Thursday, 11.15.07, Meet at Old Chicago on East State Street for a few laps around Midway Village . This will be about a 4 mile run. Recovery will be at Old Chicago. Meeting time is 6:00 pm.
Saturday, 11.17.07, Meet at Runners Image on East State Street for an out and back run along the bike path. The course is flat and it will be about an 6-8 mile run. Recovery will be at the Marys Market at Edgebrook Shopping Center . Meeting time is 7:00 am.
Thursday, 11.22.07, It’s Thanksgiving Day....a time to reflect and give thanks. There will be no formal run. But, if you want to run to ease your guilt for the soon-to-be eaten gourmet dinner, there is the Turkey Trot at Aldeen Park .
