Illinois Triathlon Clubs:
The Chicago Athlete is reporting that the Lake Zurich triathlon on August 13 has been canceled (though there is so far no notification on the race’s web site).
Lake Zurich is a popular MERCRS race for the Illinois clubs. If it has been canceled, then the Mideast Board will need to add an Illinois race to replace Lake Zurich. I would like to know from your clubs, as soon as possible, any recommended replacement races.
A couple of things to keep in mind:

All MERCRS races must be USAT Sanctioned. No exceptions.

We typically shy away from first year races for MERCRS, since new races often need to get the “bugs” worked out the first year. This is not a hard-and-fast rule though.

Ideally, we would replace LZ with another International distance race, though a Sprint would be an option. We probably do not want to add a longer race though, since many club members would not have been preparing for a long distance race this year. Plus the Cutting Edge Half is already a Illinois MERCRS race.
Please let me have your suggestions as soon as possible so I can pass them along to the full board. Thanks.
