Ok, I want to start this by saying I expect to see soem Rockman post soon since I was unable to watch. With that being said I made the journey to Batavia to compete in the duathlon. THis was the race fourth year and it made improvements over last in regards to orgainzation. The only two concerns I really had was the lack of bathrroms and the spectators.

I alomst missed the start having to wait in line at the bathrooms (only 4 for 600 athletes and about another 600 or so spectators?) The first run was an out and back on a paved path along the fox river. The path was shaded and made for a good start.

The transition is where my problem with spectators comes in. As I am running up to transition I can see my bike and towel as they are the first one inside, the problem is there is spectator standing on my towel and leaning on my bike as he is recoding waiting for someone else to show up! As I yell at him to get out of the way he stumples, kicks my shoes and knocks my helmet off my bike. I let him know my frustration as I finished changing shoes and he was less than pleasnt back.

Moving back to the race, as I get out on the bike I realize my bike computer is now not working (wonder why, worked prior to race start?) I get into a nice pack of riders and ride the well marked and supported bike ride. There were lots of volunteers and police at intersections and people cheering everyone one.

The second transition went much better than the first. The run followed a different section of the path along the river in a mostly shaded 4.1 run. There were three aid stations with great volunteers at each one (they had a contest so there were cheerleaders, a cross country team, and a swim team).

While I did not do the tri, the bike and run followed the same course. The swim was a loop through a beach styled swim area. Small swim venue so they stagger the start but overall it is nice.

The post race had lots of panera cookies and bagels with water and Sam Adams. they also had tons of pizza and massages. There was a nice raffle with lots of local prizes and the overll winners got cyclops fluid trainers. Overall a good race. I Plan on going back again next year.
